Hmmm. This is a great stout beer. I know the picture doesn’t show it, but the beer produced a nice head when poured into the glass.
The flavors are chocolate and a little vanilla, which make the flavor seem close to milk chocolate.
The Alabama bill HB373 is one step closer to becoming law. This bill will finally bring gourmet beers to Alabama. Yesterday, the Alabama senate passed the bill and sent it to the governor for signature.
If you support improving the beers in Alabama, I urge you to call the governor’s switchboard at (334) 242-7100. It only takes a second. You just tell the individual answering the phone that you support HB373. And, she will say thanks. It is that easy!

Today marks the second anniversary of my dad starting The Nook.
The place has come a long way from the smoking bar that it had been. Some people would have called it a seedy place. At first, The Nook had 40 different beers with about 6 on tap. Now, The Nook has 17 beers on tap and over 160 available with the list always growing.
Now, The Nook hosts many beer events such as beer releases, tastings, and more.
Most of the interior has been redone. The exterior is slowly being redone as well.
Here is the original sign, which was painted with a role paint brush.
I am heading to The Nook around 4 o’clock tomorrow to get some Weihenstephaner’s Hefe Weissbier, which is the highest rated beer available in Alabama. I am not sure what it says about the beer or Alabama.
But, I you can get some highly rated beers in Alabama as long as they don’t have over 6% ABV. You can read more about that problem here.
Come join me at The Nook.
I just got done trying Lakefront IPA at The Nook. It was great. The head looked good. The hop smell and flavor are great. It was a her balanced beer.
I look forward to this being on tap full time at The Nook.
It is like wow! The hops flavor is very full, but is not out of control.
I got lucky and received the first pour during the tasting. You see Beverly pouring my beer in the picture.
I just hope everyone drinks up so that I can try Hops Project #11.
Update:
The Nook has tapped #11. Awesome! (as John Smith would say.)
They say that #11 is hoppier that #10, but I think it is a completely different kind of hops character.
