Wow! Hepworth has a great set of beers.
This Classic Old Ale is great one. The malty taste is great. It has a light malty taste that is very enjoyable. The alcohol is very low at 4.8% ABV, which makes it a good session beer with a full body.
The Southern Brewers Festival is just around the corner. This is a great effort put on by Big River Grille & Brewing Works of Chattanooga in support a local cause. This year “Kids on the Block” will help run the festival and receive all proceeds. It all starts Saturday, August 28th.
The festival will have 31 breweries including: A1A Ale Works, Barley Mob, Bold City Brewery, Twains Billiards and Tap, Foothills Brewing Company, and many more.
This year’s festival will feature music by: Big Head Todd and The Monsters, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Ponderosa, and American Aquarium.
The Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant Group, which owns Big River Grille & Brewing Works, has kindly sponsored our trip by giving us VIP passes to the festival.
Last Laugh is an American White Ale. Choc Beer Company has a wide selection of great beers and Last Laugh is a great one, too.
The flavor starts with a little citrus taste and the nose will pick up the citrus, too.
The color is a light golden with a hazy from the unfiltered wheat.
Over all, this is a great summer beer with a light crisp taste.
I am drinking this beer out on a patio at around 97° F. The patio is 97° F not the beer.
The peach aroma comes out right away when your nose crosses the side of the glass.
The flavor is sweet due the temperature. I would say the temperature is around 55 degrees.
The beer is very drinkable. This beer would be very enjoyable with dessert.
Beverly, The Nook’s manager, poured me up one of Straight to Ale’s Orbiter. The style is a Strong Ale. With 13.9% ABV, you would expect the heat from the alcohol, but the malt back bone hides the alcohol completely.
The beer poured smoothly without a head. It had a bit of sweetness throughout the taste. It had similar characteristics of a porter, but with a lot of depth. The flavor did not linger around. It would be a great after dinner beer.
This is of one Straight to Ale’s best beers. It was great to get to try it tonight.
The strawberry flavors are mild and reminded of the light flavor of the strawberry in a strawberry yogurt.
I would say the finish reminds me of a Twinkie, which makes me want to do a beer pairing.
The lager was very little body, which is very comparable to a domestic light lager.
