North Alabama has not seen Fuller in years. Beverly (The Nook manager) and my dad pushed the distributor to get the beer back in town so the The Nook could get it.
The Nook has Fuller’s ESB, London Pride, and London Porter.
I stepped out of the office early today and got to enjoy them.
The Nook had their release event for Terrapin Beer Co.’s “Dos Cocoas” Chocolate Porter.
It was great! It had a very balanced flavor. Everyone was impressed.
Here is how Terrapin describes it:
“The “Dos Cocoas” is a traditional Porter with a chocolaty experimental twist. “Spike” incorporated two types of chocolate at two different stages of production to achieve the balanced chocolate flavors in the “Dos Cocoas”. The first addition was 60 pounds of cocoa powder added in the whirlpool. Next, the porter was aged for one month on a 60 pound bed of cocoa nibs to really bring the dark chocolate flavors home. The result is a fine chocolate aroma, a unique bitterness and a tantalizingly balanced chocolate flavor from both the cocoa powder and the nibs.”
I am sitting at The Nook enjoying a wonderful beer. I got to compare Rogue’s and Olde Towne’s Chocolate Stout side by side.
And, friends enjoyed the event, too.
Beverly is topping off my first tasting of the Porter. It is similar to the original Porter, but it different. I don’t remember what is making it different.
The Porter is Olde Towne’s Winter Seasonal.
This beer has a strong full flavor. I would describe it, but I have a cold.
This is a great beer. It has a very nutty taste and the higher ABV of 9% doesn’t come off too strong in the taste.
The color is very rich.
I could drink this regularly.
It is a nice bock that is a little overly sweet. The brewmaster released this beer just last week. I have primarily been drinking this beer while in the hotel, which Judge Baldwin Brewery is associated.
I had this particular beer during the Manager’s social on Wednesdays.
We enjoyed this one.
Karen and I went to the Wednesday evening Manager’s Reception and enjoyed the Standard/Ordinary Bitter Pale Ale from Judge Baldwin’s Brewing Co.
We both enjoyed it maybe too much.
I enjoyed this beer. It is full flavor beer with more character than I expected. It is a hoppy beer as Karen would expect coming from Sierra Nevada. I would suggest you give it try.
